Walking my way back to health...

And so while I get the privilege to work from home, what better things for me to do other then to add a few 'workout' moments during my working days.

On top of yoga, I would also add in (whenever possible) 10,000 steps into my daily goal. I do this by tracking my steps using Fitbit. Oh by the way, Fitbit has a very cool blog which I think you should check out. What's cool about it is, it is not focused in advertising their products. However it also writes on health related articles which some of it is educational.

Back to this topic...

10,000 steps may sound a lot, however as I figured out how many steps are required for each activity, it is actually easily achievable.

Here's how I did mine:

Morning: Take Teddy out for at least 20 minutes brisk walking - steeps earned 2,800++.

- Morning break: 5-10 minutes slow walk in the garden for Teddy to smell the grasses - steeps earned 1,200++

- Lunch time: Another 5-10 minutes slow walk in the garden for Teddy to smell the grasses plus some poo poo and pee pee - steeps earned 1,200++

- Evening: Take Teddy out for at least 30 minutes brisk walking - steeps earned 3,800++

- After dinner: Another 5-10 minutes slow walk in the garden - steeps earned 1,200++

Now I did not wore my Fitbit through out the entire day, this is to avoid any small/ sedentary steps being counted in. Also notice that I highlighted the word brisk. This is really important as slow and relaxed walks will not yield the same result as brisk walking. 20 minutes brisk walk also has other benefits which can easily be found in Google.

Hence it is really apparent, all I need to do everyday is incorporate 2 sessions of longer walks (brisk walks) plus a few small walks in between. Easy right?!
